Nur Jazlan is married with three children.[4] He is the eldest son of former Information Minister Mohamed Rahmat,[5] who was of Javanese[6] andChinese descent.[7] Nur Jazlan's mother Puan Sri Salbiah Abdul Hamid was of Teochew Chinese heritage, and associates closely with the Chinese community.[8] He is a columnist for The Malaysian Insider.[9]
