Dato' Haji Hasni bin Mohammad (Jawi: حسني بن محمد; born 27 March 1959[citation needed]) is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Johor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Benut since March 2008 and Chairman of the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) since August 2022.[1] He served as the 18th Menteri Besar of Johor from February 2020 to March 2022, State Leader of the Opposition of Johor from June 2018 to February 2020, Member of the Johor State Executive Council (EXCO) from May 2013 to May 2018 and Member of Parliament (MP) for Pontian from March 2004 to March 2008. He is member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a component party of the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. He has served as the State Chairman of BN and UMNO of Johor since 2018 and Division Chairman of UMNO of Pontian since 2001.
Political career[edit]
Member of Parliament for Pontian (2004–2008)[edit]
Hasni was first elected to Malaysian Parliament as the MP of Pontian in the 2004 general election (GE11).
Member of the Johor State Legislative Assembly for Benut (since 2008)[edit]
In the 2008 general election (GE12), he was elected as the Member of the Johor State Legislative Assembly for Benut. He managed to retain the seat again in 2013 (GE13) and 2018 (GE14) general elections. In the 2022 Johor state election, he was reelected as the Benut assemblyman for his 4th consecutive term by defeating all of his 3 opponents, Isa Abdul Hamid from Perikatan Nasional (PN), Haniff Ghazali Hosman from Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Iskandar Noor Ibrahim from Homeland Fighters Party (PEJUANG) with a majority of 5,859 votes.
Member of the Johor State Executive Council (2013–2018)[edit]
He was appointed as an EXCO member by former Menteri Besar Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
State Leader of the Opposition of Johor (2018–2020)[edit]
But in the aftermath GE14 which saw the fall of BN coalition government, he was elected the Opposition Leader of Johor from 2018 to 2020.
Menteri Besar of Johor (2020–2022)[edit]
On 28 February 2020, he was sworn in as the new Menteri Besar by the Sultan Ibrahim Ismail, replacing the incumbent Dato' Dr. Sahruddin Jamal after the collapse of Pakatan Harapan (PH) state government during the 2020 Malaysian political crisis.[2]
In the Johor state election on 12 March 2022, he led his coalition to a huge and landslide victory in the 2022 Johor state election, winning 40 out of 56 state seats, giving him a two-thirds majority to form the next state government with a much stronger mandate after he lost the majority with only 28 seats in the assembly following the death of Kempas assemblyman Osman Sapian and strengthening his grip on power and position as Menteri Besar of Johor. BN Chairman and UMNO President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi also added that he would submit the name of Hasni to the Sultan of Johor for his reappointment to the position. However, on 14 March 2022, Hasni suddenly announced his withdrawal from the running for the position by stating that he would pave way and endorse a younger candidate to lead the state government citing long term development for Johor and the next day on 15 March 2022, caretaker EXCO member and new Machap MLA Onn Hafiz Ghazi was sworn in as the new and 19th Menteri Besar to take over him after his 2 years in office.

Early life, family and education[edit]
Onn Hafiz was born in Simpang Renggam, Kluang, Johor to Dato' Ghazi Ishak (1948-2021) and Datin Roquaiya Hanim Hussein (1950-2006), Hussein Onn's eldest child.[3][4] He is the great-great-grandson of first and former Menteri Besar of Johor Jaafar Muhammad, great-grandson of seventh and former Menteri Besar of Johor cum founder, first and former President of UMNO, Onn Jaafar, grandson (from the maternal line) of third former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Hussein Onn and also nephew of senior cabinet minister, Hishammuddin Hussein (mother's younger brother) as well as former Prime Minister cum long-serving cabinet member as well as former Menteri Besar of Pahang, Najib Razak and banker, Nazir Razak (mother's maternal first cousins).
Onn Hafiz went to Royal Military College. He received Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Accounting from University of Hertfordshire.

In the 2022 election, Onn Hafiz switched constituencies to Machap and won it with a majority of 6,543 against 3 candidates including a candidate from PEJUANG, Shahruddin Md Salleh.[6]
On 15 March 2022, Onn Hafiz was officially sworn in as the new and 19th Menteri Besar of Johor, the 4th officeholder in just a single term of parliament of malaysia. Initially after the 2022 Johor state election, BN Chairman and UMNO President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi revealed that he would submit the name of his predecessor and caretaker menteri besar Hasni Mohammad to Sultan of Johor for Hasni to be reappointed to the position after BN gained landslide victory in the election. Pada Pilihan Raya Umum Malaysia 1999 Khaled Nordin telah dipilih sebagai wakil rakyat setelah memenangi kerusi Parlimen Johor Bahru. Setelah itu beliau telah dilantik sebagai Timbalan Menteri Kerja Raya sehingga tahun 2004.
Pada Pilihan Raya Umum Malaysia 2004 Khaled Nordin telah bertukar ke kerusi Parlimen Pasir Gudang dan berjaya menewaskan calon Parti Keadilan Rakyat, A. Razak Ahmad dengan majoriti 31,121 undi. Beliau memperolehi 38,123 undi berbanding lawannya yang mendapat 7003 undi. Selepas kemenangannya itu, beliau telah dilantik sebagai Menteri Pembangunan Usahawan dan Koperasi sehingga Mac 2008.
Dalam Pilihan Raya Umum Malaysia 2008, Mohamed Khaled Bin Nordin bertanding menggunakan tiket Barisan Nasional . Beliau telah bertanding di kawasan parlimen Pasir Gudang , negeri Johor. Mohamed Khaled Bin Nordin telah menang dengan mendapat undi sebanyak 35849. Calon lawan ialah Md Rizan Bin Mohd Saman dari PKR mendapat 18,568 undi - Kalah . Peratus pengundi yang keluar ialah 76.7 %. Undi rosak sebanyak 1211.

Early life[edit]
Khaled is of Banjar descent.[1] He was born in Muar, Johor, Malaysia. He received his early education at Sekolah Rendah Ledang Tangkak and High School Muar later before continued to English College Johore Bahru. Khaled further his studies at University of Malaya and graduated with a law degree in 1982.
Career[edit]
Before entering politics, Khaled worked for the Malaysian oil giant Petronas. In the 1980s he worked as an adviser to Shahrir Abdul Samad, a federal minister.
Kuala Selangor

Kuala Selangor incumbent member of parliament Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad today confirmed that he will be defending the seat in the 15th General Election (GE15).
Dr Dzulkefly, who is also Parti Amanah Negara strategy director, said this was in line with the party's decision although he had previously said he would give way to a younger candidate.
"(Party) leaders and Pakatan Harapan had unanimously agreed for me to defend P096 (Kuala Selangor).
It was reported that thr PH and Amanah leadership wanted Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad to defend his Kuala Selangor parliamentary as rumours are rife that Umno has decided to field Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz for the seat.
Negeri Sembilan
Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun will be the coalition’s Port Dickson parliamentary candidate, Loke said the Negri Sembilan menteri besar is the right choice to succeed Anwar.
DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook today confirmed he will be defending the Seremban parliamentary seat in the general election (GE) while Negri Sembilan DAP secretary Cha Kee Sun will defend Rasah.
Loke said Negri Sembilan DAP had finalised candidacy and machinery matters early, with preparations beginning two weeks before nomination day.
“We are ready to defend Seremban and Rasah. We not only want to win both seats, but we are also duty-bound to help our partners defend Port Dickson, Tampin and (capture) Kuala Pilah,”
